Latest Street Photos

Emi and I have been shooting again. The first batch of photos can now be seen.

Emi shot in Harajuku, while I shot two people at a handicraft market in Kyoto. As can be expected, this was very subdued fashion. But the details and colors were very attractive and matched the temple surroundings amazingly well. If it is true that Japanese dress for the time, place and occasion, these two women did a perfect job.

Kyoto Street Fashion
More mustard yellow—seems to be a popular color this Winter.

It is a long time since I saw this color on Japanese lips. The past ten years colors have been far more subdued. Wonder if we’ll see more of this.

Kjeld Duits About the Author

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Very colorful fashion. Those are unusual for me but maybe those are on demand fashion in Japan now.

Hi Jini,

Thanks. Happy New Year to you, too!

We actually have a huge mountain of new material. But I am holding it up a bit as I am in the process of redesigning the site. Hopefully, part of the new design will go live this month. Other parts will be added throughout the year.

JAPANESE STREETS 3.0 will be easier to use, feature some new goodies and will be updated daily. The front page is now fairly static, but in 3.0 will show all these daily changes.

It is extremely exciting. STAY TUNED!
