Beach Fashion

Although the Japanese o-Bon vacation has finished, it is still very much Summer in Japan with high temperatures driving people to the beaches. JAPANESE STREETS checks out beach fashion this week.

We went to Suma beach near Kobe, a city known for its slightly conservative fashion. With fewer younger people born in Japan the past 20 years, the beaches are not as crowded anymore as they were in previous years. Many beach restaurants have vanished. So that gave us a small selection of people to choose from. But we still found some cool people we liked.

Short jeans over the bikini is the hot thing this year. We saw dozens of girls sporting this combination, usually with the button and the zipper of the shorts undone to show an enticing piece of the briefs. If done well, this can be very sexy. If done badly…, well you get the picture.

We spent more than four hours on the beach and tried extremely hard to scout some cool guys as well, but we found just a few.
