Summer Rags

This week, JAPANESE STREETS went back to Osaka’s Amerika Mura to do some shooting of people in their summer clothes. It has been a while since we last shot in Osaka. As always, it was great fun.

People in Osaka have the image of being loud, both verbally and fashion-wise. Verbally, this stereotype might work. But when it comes to fashion, Osaka is not half as loud as people imagine. Perhaps the humid hot summers of this city has something to do with it. When you have to challenge temperatures of up to 40 degrees centigrade, you want to keep it simple.

Which is exactly what we found. Not much layering this summer. Whether someone dressed gothic, rock or just casual, it was single layers for most.

We found a few really cute outfits, like the girl in the photo above. She paid lots of attention to every single detail and it showed. See all the images at photos > street > 07 2008. Enjoy!
