Tomoe Ishikawa’s Kino label, established in 1999, prides itself on “simple and sophisticated adult elegance”.

The latest collection for 2008 played on elegant tones with edgy styling. Lots of monochrome, confident shapes and high-waisted shorts had an appearance of finesse but added little else. There were some nice summery dresses in vivid colours but the glum look of many foreign press attendees spoke volumes.
