JUNYA TASHIRO A/W 2007 - Obvious Talent

Fukuoka based designer Junya Tashiro showcased his second collection for Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo on Thursday

Bookmark and Share

It was a very accomplished collection for a relative newcomer to the Tokyo fashion arena. Winter coats in soft fabrics and beautiful pleated skirts, jackets and tunics in autumnal colours felt both mature and elegant. Some ornate fitted jackets and single breasted coats added to the unity of the collection.

The number of empty front row seats may have been an indication of how far Tashiro has to go to win over the Tokyo critics, but with obvious talent Tashiro shouldn’t worry too much.

Some of the more extravagant dresses were perhaps a little too adorned and while not particularly daring or innovative, Tashiro presented a charming line of sophisticated womenswear.
