Lily Barreth’s flare for polished detail was very much in evidence with the use of dandy-style baby frills on shirt fronts, a sunray pleated wool skirt-suit, over-size purse-style handbags, frill-front patent shoes and a full-skirted Prince of Wales trench coat.
Interestingly Lilith was one of many shows at JFW that demonstrated a resurgence to a dark aesthetic style, similar to the dour Antwerp movement — a refreshing revisit to a trend that many Japanese designers do so well.
Over all, the show lacked the Parisian passion and zest of previous seasons, although there were a lot of touches which wetted the palette.
