To the chimes of distorted Norwegian poetry, sounds of crashing gates and post-war French folk songs, LyricisM’s collection entangled many different influences. Nineteenth century Spanish costume with Matador hats and tired and frilled silhouettes, forties-style gartered stockings, pill-box hats with fur stoles, 30s style dropped waist shifts and chiffon numbers and Edwardian cropped jackets, and floorlength column-shaped skirts.
The collection was challenging in the level of influences it drew upon and in the complexity of the items on show: floor-length bold horizontal striped dresses, delicate monochrome prints, chunky knit puffed sleeve bady-dolls, little red riding hood capes and caped dresses and low-buttoning wrap blazers.
But, the range was far from messy or thrown together. It had a natural fluidity to it, and was thoughtful and thought-provoking.
