Taking inspiration from early 50’s, girly Parisian style, the silhouette was wonderfully modern, and with a palette of mint, white, light grey and black, fresh and original.
The show was full of quirky and surprising ideas:
- pretty frill-backed knickerbockers, – graceful asymmetric buttoning funnel coats, – extraordinary pillow-like shoulder pads, – lace and rhinestone encrusted sleep blindfolds, – frilly-knee leggings, – sensual pod wrap coats and trapeze dresses, – marvelous all-frill skirt suits, – fun devore MintDesigns print, – beautiful drape bib printed jersey tops, – genius high-waist draw-string pants and – wonderfully witty sleeve scarves.
Renowned for strong print, mintdesigns’ signature “psycho baby” multi-print motif (a baby silhouette with a huge pair of tailor’s snips in one hand — yes really) was on display. But it felt balanced against a strong silhouette message in subtle colors and techniques.
This was my favorite show of the week.
