Red Shoes No Knickers

More and more kids highlight their outfits with red shoes of every kind of persuasion: pumps, wedges, sneakers, stilettos and boots.

Maybe its the romantic gothic influence seeping into the ground-water and affecting the boho chic and old school hip-hop kids alike. Or are these kids demonstrating their allegiance to Bono’s Product Red Campaign? Or, maybe its a response to the ballet fever that’s sweeping the capital, and these cool cats are performing their interpretation of Powell and Pressburger’s Red Shoes… Well, maybe not.

Tokyo Girls are dressing this highlight accessory with monochrome outfits: killer stilettos teamed with skinny jeans, patent ballet pumps with stripy tights and jersey puff-balls, leather sharp-toe flats worn with baggy jeans or over sized combats, frontier boots combined with fishnets and short shorts. And such is the passion for socks here, I have also seen sued wedges teamed with toeless socks.

I did not find out whether this article’s title–a smutty British saying–was true or not…
