Theatre Products - Musical Fashion

I like theatre. What I really like is when theatre and fashion mix to create a spectacle of fun and flair. Theatre Products’ Spring/Summer 2007 Collection sizzled the Tokyo audience on top of the super-cool Issetan department store in Shinjuku.

Clever albino-like make up and hair (Koji Ohara and Ayumi Naito) and a twee musical soundtrack made for pretty surreal viewing but nothing is ever simple with Theatre Products. In a parody of 50s musicals the collection really stood out from the crowd. Bright colours, pastels and paisley dominated the collection and sexy yellow hot-pants with halter-neck tops raised the temperature on the roof garden. High waists and seductive pleats impressed and if Theatre Products have their way you’ll be recreating 50s movie star looks and practicing burlesque before you know it.

Akira Takeuchi and Tayuka Nakanishi, the team behind Theatre Products, have a keen sense of entertainment and if they continue to excite the Tokyo crowds you will be hearing their name in a city near you soon.
