Royal Chie - A Day at the Zoo

With a poignant air of luxury, Japanese designer Chie Imai celebrated her 30th Anniversary at Japan Fashion Week today. With several stars in attendance this was an exclusive show with an even more exclusive feel.

With Taishi Nobukuni advocating an understanding between fashion and environmentalism Imai went in the opposite direction.

The main element to this collection was Fur – Sable, Mink, Fox, Chinchilla and Leopard – to name but a few. In an intense show Imai stuck her neck out and flaunted fur as the material of choice. With fur lining, fur details, Russian fur coats, jackets and gloves it was rather one dimensional not to mention ever so slightly disturbing.

With velvet, diamond belts, suede and some Barbarella ensembles, the show culminated with a glamorous bang and left a slightly bad taste in my mouth.
