I think it’s fascinating to see how much Japanese youth spend on their favorite pieces. His backpack was 35,000 yen, but his glasses were only 1500. The complete opposite from typical American buying habits!

@kagitsune haha and sometimes we even heckle the prices to get them as low as possible! (And don’t get me started on bargain shopping!)

Jeez, ever since I went to France I’ve been longing to get some harem trousers but they just aren’t popular at all in American streetwear. I really wanna try to help bring them into style but I don’t think I could be that bold ^^;

@kagitsune: I am often amazed by how much young people without full-time jobs spend on their clothes. Some of the people I shot wore between 100,000 and 200,000 worth of clothing. That’s between 1,000 and 2,000 dollars…

@Arc: Cheap stores like UNIQLO, 21 Forever and H&M are becoming increasingly popular here as well. Since the 1990ss the used clothing biz is huge in Japan. As witnessed by the many chain stores that sell used clothing.

Hope you manage to marshall enough chutzpah to bring harem trousers back into style!

@kagitsune and Arc: It is very true that many Japanese people are very good at using reasonable pieces. Even my friends surprise me at their quality but reasonable clothings. For examble, it is surprising that many fashionable people tend to be Uniqulo lovers as Kjeld mentioned above.

@blotangel: Yeah! I personally want to see his pther styles:)

@ojisanbaka: Exactly! It’s very popular at my university, and people often point at someone’s sarueru pants and say, “Ah, it’s sarueru!”

@Kjeld Duits..I haven’t worn them in the states yet, its been too cold. I’m afraid people here would think they’re weird. Good thing I can go to Tokyo to truly express my style. Just kidding. Actually, I think I might wear them until someone laughs at me. haha. I think they’re cool though!

@Lactose Intoler-Art: I often hear that it’s tough to wear clothing that is different in the States. Hopefully, all the fashion blogs will bring some change!

I love those shoes!

@Anastasia: The open space on top must make them quite comfortable for the extremely hot water that we are experiencing at the moment.
