Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

I love the hair colour but not the cut. Somehow it just doesn’t fit his face. Also the long shirt and those boots (maybe because of the material they’re made of?) make him look like a patient in a hospital.

Well, it’s just my opinion.

Your opinion is reasoned well, sensitively expressed and very welcome, gionbaby! I actually like the cut and the shirt myself. Totally with you on the hair color; it is a unique color and really fits his complexion.

I love the hair color! So many people are dying their hair gray right now on Tokyo street fashion sites! I love his look, it looks very modern and forward thinking avant-garde Tokyo style right now…But I do understand what you mean about the hospital thing. You never know with Tokyo though, that could be the inspiration behind this very interesting look!

@Kjeld Duits Thank you! :) The more I look at the pictures, the more I love the hair colour. <3

@Lactose Intoler-Art You might be right! I think I would like the outfit better if the shirt would be just a slightly bit shorter and he would wear some sort of pants underneath. But that would be a different story then. ;) Oh, and I love your illustrations. <3

I like quite like this, it’s a very subtle way to add femininity, because button shirts are so manly and stuff. I’ve been wishing to have a shirt like that for a long while, there is not a lot of possibilities where I live to get one, I will soon have to learn how to sew.
Anyway, thanks for running this web site, any source of contemporary Japanese fashion is highly appreciated, and I love that I am able to save the pictures in my computer. Oh and the colour palette thing at the front page is pretty awesome and creative. Thanks.

He is very handsome, and his face looks so soft.

@Ackm Antz: Thanks for the kudos. Appreciate it! The colour palette thing (love how you explained that) is something I am very proud of, so it’s wonderful to hear that you like it. I find it extremely helpful myself.

This skirt should really be seen as a dress, I think. I see it as part of the skirt for men trend.
