Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

I LOVE both her shirts! The Daniel Palillo shirt looks like a work of art :) But I just have one HUGE question, I’ve wanted to ask about so many people you’ve photographed: HOW are such young students able to afford such expensive clothes??? I see (in US dollars), her shirt was about $250, the bag was $170 and the shoes were $200!! That’s a LOT of money to me! In America, you could buy a cheap used car with that much money. Are there just a lot parents who are willing to give their college students a heavy allowance for clothes?…I wish my parents were that cool ;_;…

@Yoel: I have frequently asked the same question. The answer is simple. The parents pay their children’s tuition and also a heft monthly allowance. Additionally, many students have part-time jobs. But they usually live at home and have no real expenses. Especially the people into expensive brands have no qualms about working 1 to 2 months to purchase the item they want.
