JAPANESE STREETS POP UP STUDIO JUNE 2013

JAPANESE STREETS set up a Pop Up Studio in Harajuku at Design Festa Gallery during the last week of June.
We invited some 30 Harajuku street fashion icons to show us their 2013 summer looks.

More info at our blog.

Designer, artist and model Haruka Kurebayashi is one of Harajuku’s best know street fashion icons.
I interviewed her about her fashion influences and her favorite fashion items.

Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Love the second shot! It’s focused on the hair accesories but her eyes look beautiful too!

@María: Thank you, Recently I have been trying to incorporate the eyes somehow when shooting hair accessories, or the mouth when shooting necklaces and brooches.

Interesting. Cute outfits. Japanese girls are a little crazy, but very sweet.

i would say this is the japanese response on pippi longstocking (that famous crazy chick with a horse and a monkey living in her house, once created by a. lindgren in sweden)

@andy: I actually mentioned Pipi to Kurebayashi when I photographed her, but she was unfamiliar with Lindgren’s masterpiece.
