Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Not to mention (like always) my favorite color :) And the touch of rosy hair and lips – very well-considered.
But there’s something missing: I guess we will never find out where are the socks from. Mmm? :)

Chie is so beautiful and this look is just stunning. When first picture showed I only said “wow”. And I’m in love with these cute socks, for me they match, but well, I love such surprises ;)

@Monik: I forgot to ask about the socks. I will ask Chie the next time I meet her. I actually shot her again, yesterday. Bunka Fashion College, where she studies, is just around the corner from the JS office. I will need some time to select, edit and upload the 1000 images or so I shot yesterday, so it’ll take a little before they go up.

@Maria: I wasn’t sure whether this should be categorized as mode or gothic. It has the feel of both. There is even a modern punk feel to it.

Those are truly great socks. I almost bought a pair like that when I was in London recently but I lost confidence before I did the deal. Deeply regretting it now :(

@Monik: Chie just told me that she bought those socks at Don Quijote, a large Japanese discount chain store, in Shibuya. Therefore she doesn’t know the brand…

@Monik: Very welcome! Actually, after I uploaded yesterday’s images onto my computer I discovered that I shot 3400 photographs… I feel a bit stressed now. Especially as I have more shoots lined up for the next two days.

I found similar (but not the same) cat socks on the site of tutuanna. I will search a little more. ^^

I have been unable to find the exact same ones on the net yet. The most obvious candidates for brands are tutuanna and coudre un, but I’ll go to the shop to make sure.

By the way, the similar ones in the link in the previous message were sold out, these are still in stock: cat and molten chocolate | ghost and ribbon.
