Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Amazing! I love how well the outfit is put together! Also I have a question! Do you ever see people of other ethnics in Tokyo? Let’s say, mixed people? I’m still really young, 15, and I don’t have a clue but would it be weird if I was seen there in Japanese style? Thanks.

@Amber: We see lots of people of different ethnical backgrounds in Tokyo wearing Japanese style fashion. People from all over the world, or with a mixed ethnical background and born in Japan. Because JAPANESE STREETS aims to introduce Japanese people, we don’t shoot them, although we do occasionally make an exception for somebody with an Asian background. But they are here, so you don’t need to worry that it might be weird. And even if you were the only one, it would still not be weird. ^^

I love how the whole style shows finesse and rudeness together.
