Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

The colour of her wig makes a beautiful contrast to all those pastel colours! But somehow it seems that wigs are cheaper than a real haircut? They always look so great!
I often think that it is their real hair, just dyed, until I read that it is a wig…

@Nyurah: Yes, wigs are indeed often cheaper than a haircut. hand’t thought of that yet… Want to save money? Get yourself a wig and skip every other haircut or so. ^_- But in Japan there are also places where you can get cuts for about 1,000 yen. I don’t think any of the people I shoot go there. If they did, they would never admit to it either, though…

@KD: ¥1000? Nice! Well, some people get it for free when they use them like models ^^
In my country is easy to find cheap places, the hard thing is to find someone who actually cuts your hair like you want it…

@Maria: “Well, some people get it for free when they use them like models ^^” — True. They’re lucky. One drawback; they don’t have a say on what the cut will look like… And the prices are high in Japan, but it’s just as difficult to find hair stylists who understand your needs well. ^_-

@Maria: In my country it’s the opposite, the prices are very high, but you still can’t find any good hairdressers.. so for a few years I’ve been cutting my hair by myself. so if it doesn’t turn out perfectly, at least I didn’t pay anything..^^

Cute and pretty. It looks comfy for warm days too. I like the transparent fairy kei jewellery.

@Nyurah: I run into an increasing number of people in Japan that do the same. Actually, recently I’ve been amazed how many people have begun cutting their own hair.
@Nora: Those accessories were even cuter in real. Some things are difficult to show in photos. ^_-
