Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

A man wearing heels: <3.
The coat is perfect for my country since it is not made to fight cold ^^

@Maria: High heels has been acceptable for men for a few years now. I don’t see it that much yet, though.

@KD: That’s exactly why I like men wearing heels, it’s been a while now since menswear features heels, but there are a lot fashionista men that haven’t try them yet ^^U

@Maria: Let’s hope that will change. ^^

I like how this look uses a “Dress” and heels, but it definitely retains a masculine vibe and doesn’t look “out of place”. Not that I find anything wrong with men appearing more feminine, I just find it interesting that the gender dynamics have been tweaked but still very retained within this look.

@MaliceInWonderland: I expect that the more that dresses are accepted for men, the more “masculine” (whatever that really means) designs will pop up.
