About the PhotographerInspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

I also own a similar IW dress and also wear it casual sometimes!

OH I really like this! And Yu has give me ideas now for my own closet. I kinda wanted to add Lolita like outfits to my wardrobe. But I live in NYC (and despite the magazine quotes, we’re not THAT fashion forward) so a full on Lolita “look” would never be exactly practical here, I just wanted cute—but not “juvenile” (I do have to work LOL!) This is PERFECT though, and just the type of something I can try without half of the Big Apple staring and pointing (or WORSE think I’m in a costume).

I love this so much! It makes me happy to see cute lolita fashion with a more mainstream look! My 16-year-old daughter is always dressing up in all sorts of adorable lolita-inspired outfits that I think are so much fun and just cute cute cute, but it’s much easier to get away with that when you’re a young student. Yu’s look here gives me hope!

hmmm… lately I have a brutal internal dilema. More and more I learn that Japanese females look at you as a weirdo or a pervert if you say you like lolita fashion. Same about anime and otakus. I know how Otaku people are viewed in Japan, so don’t need to explain. Also, one particular Japanese friend of mine (female) explained that she understands that only small percentage of otaku are weirdos but she didn’t look very convincing. The point is, when I see a lolita fashion or watch cute anime video recently(normal one, like Touhou) i feel uncomfortable. It’s really uncomfortable. I’m kind of confused. Any help?
