Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Larissa : It’s cut off, but it looks like 「あの娘の入ったプールの水でご飯炊きたい」which translates as “I want to cook with the water of the pool that girl has been in.” I’m not making this up!
@Äwe: Haha, yes, you’re right. ^^
@Maria: ダイソのすしがいいよね!

Her hair is beautiful in style, cut and colour. And I like the shirt a lot. I think it`s amazing, how unique and pretty japanese people can look with this breath masks.

I love this look! It’s inspiring. The creative use of magnets, the quotation on the shirt, the hair and makeup and everything. She seems like someone people would want as their friend. ^_^

@nora: It always bothers me that most Japanese just wear plain white masks. Why not be more playful? So, I love it when I run into people like Mari.
@Roanne: Unfortunately, I don’t have a twitter or facebook account for Mari…

Something really drew me to this girl. Don’t know if it’s the transparent red pants or her funny pose. Just something. Looks like a lot of people are suffering from allergy in Japan, too. That kinda comforts me, I feel like I’m not the only one ^^ I also like that she has tons of bags with her; the big black bag pack (sounds funny), the bag made of cotton AND the panda bear bag pack!! My brother would totally love that ;-) Reminds me of myself, I often carry a couple of bags with me as well. ^^

@Dörrie Banana: Lots of people suffer from allergies in Japan (including me, actually), but I think that most of the people I shoot use masks as a fashion statement. I think it’s a fashion statement for Mari, too.
