Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Maria: ALICE and the PIRATES is a sub-line of BABY, The Stars Shine Bright. It was started in 2004 to offer cooler, darker and more aristocratic creations. See designer Mitsuba explain the brand in this brief video clip of ALICE and the PIRATES. There is also an entry for BABY on Wikipedia.

Oh, such a pity, you can’t see the tights very well, and I think they’re really cute, wiht floral pattern at the side. Love this kind of tights!

@Nyurah: Yes, I should have taken a good shot of the print. I actually thought of it. But as Maya’s skirt spreads out quite a bit I felt rather self-conscious crouching on the street shooting so low…

@Kjeld: Yes, that’s quite understanable :) And because she has a rather decent look that probably even would have been weird, you trying to take a shot of her tights….^^
