Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Maria: WOW. Jean Paul GAULTIER at ¥1,000.” — At a used clothing store…

@KD: I know, I know (n_n”) But it is still surprising, ¥1000 is very cheap, even for a non-designer bag. Used clothing stores are awesome, I bought a Ralph Lauren purse for $2 or $3 ^^

What a stunning looking man! I like the mystery of the look.

Very cool! Is this your first time to shoot him Kjeld? I’ve never seen this guy before, I don’t think. I love the texture of oversized shorts, looks good with jeans underneath. I love wearing jeans undershorts with different proportions, it adds another layer (and pattern/texture option too, haha!)

And that is still super cheap! Must have been at Kinji or Chicago or something, because most small select vintage shops are USUALLY not that cheap..But that’s not to say you can’t find stuff like that even in Tokyo sometimes!

@Mel: You will make Masayoshi very happy.
@Lactose Intoler-Art: I shot Masayoshi once before at Bunka. But he wore glasses then. Yes, the pants-on-pants trend we see is pretty cool, I think. Especially if it’s done well like here. I’ll need to ask him where he does his shopping next time I meet him!

@Lala: His hair was cut by LIM CODE, a hair salon that is actually in the building behind Masayoshi. They do great work.
