Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

The badges caught my attention right after seeing her dress n_n
She has some really unique stuff like that face earring. Awesome.
I like her dyed concept with the dress and the bag, kinda hippie but also rock-like <3
Other clothe pin like Ken’s! Nice!
Lately I think I have seen a lot of blond hair and light coloured hairs too. I like it, makes me want to add some coloured parts to my hair xD

@Maria: I photographed Akira once before with the same earring. I love her style, and she has a wonderful personal, too. She is now looking for a job in Tokyo and plans to move next March, so we will rpobably see more of her from next year. ^^

@KD: Now I remember her, those leggins were so cool! She’s using the same bag and stole too n_n

@Maria: I think it’s awesome how Akira manages to create a totally different look even when using some of the same items.

Love the colors of her dress! Her outfit looks similar to what I was wearing today, even her shoes look like mine! :O How interesting, not often I see a look similar to mine hehe.

Is that a butterfly earring/pendant? It’s magnificent!

@Leah: Yes, that is indeed a butterfly. I shot a detail photo of a similar one last time I photographed Akira.

@KD: When you like your clothes you tend to find different ways of using them. My friends sometimes ask me if what I am wearing is new. It is just that I wore it in a different way.

@Maria: You must be just as good at it as Akira!

@KD: Not everyone has money to buy a lot of different outfits, some have to use creativity to look fashionable with what we have. (n_n’‘)

I love it! Especially the grandma earring, haha. Is she from Osaka by chance? I remember seeing those caterpillar pin badges in Amerika Mura! I wanted to buy one…haha.

And @Maria-I agree. I would much rather have a lot of cheap clothes with the option of multiple ways to creatively wear them than to have a few expensive clothes and wear them plainly. But that’s just me. Creativity>Name brands

@Lactose Intoler-Art: Too bad you didn’t buy one of those butterflies, Brandon. Akira is actually from West Japan, but not from Osaka, but from Aichi. She is looking for a job in Tokyo now and hopes to move here next March. You may meet her next year. ^_-

@Lactose Intoler-Art: Agree with “Creativity>Name brands” ^^
@KD: Aichi! It is one of the places I want to visit some day in Japan n_n
