Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Gingham, eyelet lace, patchwork-effect, and fabric yo-yos (like those on the shoes) are an unexpected “country” surprise and a fun contrast to the sophisticated structure of this outfit. I really like the seaming which gives the skirt a sort of front bustle. Great pun with the “Ties must be worn at all times” pin. Anyone else think the stacked fabric collar looks like the snipped off skinny ends of neckties?

@jodi: Love your excellent dissection of Gon’s style. I think the collar may actually be made of necktie ends. Hopefully, Gon will read your comment and tell us how she made the collar.

Thank you for comment,jodei!
You have smart fashion dissection! I really appriciate those.
I made this collar by using a piece of cloth, not neckties. Like wasting fabric stuffs, folding one by one,and gathering, then sewed. But exactly I inspired by neckties how to fold these pieces.
And also I’m planning to make this collar by using the necktie ends!
Thanksxxx
