Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Emma: I like the black and white stockings, one black, one white.

@KD: Me too, people should mis-match more often.

@Emma: Actually I think you’ll see more mismatches coming soon.

@KD: We probably will, fashion is always changing. I think it’s nicer for people to be creative with what they wear.

@Emma: I already took the photographs. ^^

@KD: Well then, I look forward to seeing more mis-matches, in your photos soon. (I love how people in Japan don’t care about what people think)

Emma, I believe they do care what people think. They just don’t try to conform. This is fashion at its most creative, unconstrained and open to just about anything.

I didnt mean it in a negative way, I was trying to say that they don’t seem to follow the crowd and are very creative. What I wrote came across differently from what I meant.

Oh I didn’t mean it negatively, either! Just making an additional point that they can still care what people think and not let that lead them into conformity. :)

Sep 21, 2011 (3553 days ago)

Yes, you made a valid point :)

I’ve said this before, black and white never gets old! =]

@Sha-Sonja: True. It never does.
