Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@ MissMolly: Actually, I think Ayako is a very careful shopper looking at the the prices she paid. Money? From generous parents, part time jobs, and living at home (so no living expenses).

Ah, living at home would solve a lot. Yeah, hers aren’t so expensive, but the two sisters a couple days ago- the jewelry alone was at least a grand!

*correction to previous comment- I just went back and looked, and the jewelry was somewhere between $300-500 roughly, but that still seems like an awful lot.

@MissMolly: Partly because the dollar is so weak against the yen now. It is not outrageously expensive in Japan if you consider that even a part-time job for a teenager pays at least 800 yen an hour. So Miho would have worked just 3 to 4 hours at most for the 6%DOKIDOKI ring costing 3,000 yen.

I love her shoes. (I really wish I had a pair, but I dont think they sell them in the uk) Her outfit is really well co-ordinated, the cardigan is particularly cute as well. ^_
