Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Nice look – fresh, vivid and still manages to look eminently wearable and yet still striking in effect. Only thing was I wasn’t sure about the backpack…just didn’t quite fit the overall mix.

Her hair really suits her. Are those Halloween socks?

@Amber: The socks are from né-net, a very playful Japanese fashion brand. I shot their shows several times in the past, here are my images of the né-net 2008 S/S Collection.

@AdelaideBen: Thanks. I think Harajuku fashion is actually defined by coming up with the unexpected.

@sabrina: Often, tattoos are so serious. Mayumi’s are very playful and cute, don’t you think?

I love this girl’s style SO much. You know, normally in the past I had hated hairstyles like this, but I honestly love it on her. She looks so great! And I would have NEVER guessed those socks were Ne-Net, and I LOVE (and stalk) that brand and their web site! Hahahaha

@Lactose Intoler-Art: That hair is genius. Really really well-done. BLANCO is actually a chain with several salons in Tokyo, Aichi and Gifu (of all places!). See some samples of long hairstyles, short-medium hairstyles and men’s hairstyles on their site.

I love her red dress and the sock, its really match. Hope I have one! And the whole image is outstanding. Her style can go in Singapore culture.
