About the PhotographerInspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Kjeld-I don’t mind you mentioning my first name, I’m not super secretive, but I do like people to notice my art/design before they try to know about my personal life, haha, thanks for respecting that! Just call me Brandon here though, that’s fine.
And no, I actually have not MET her, however, I was at the crossing I think by where the GAP used to be, kind of watching people go by, and I suddenly spotted her stomping the streets (probably headed towards Lawson on Omotesando-dori) wearing super high platform Tokyo bopper shoes that has circular pieces attached to the back, and she simply commanded attention. She was so unique. I would LOVE to meet her.

Wow, I sure bet she DOES command a lot of attention, being able to pull off that incredible long cheetah print skirt without looking trashy. Anyways, earlier, i saw your comment on Sayako in response to my desire to design my phone cover about loving matsuri’s phone covers and how they evolve…i also think that applies to her fashion in general. And honestly, i think that’s what makes one such an icon- the ability to evolve your fashion and wear new trends in a way that look unique on you and that you can pull off.

@Melina Bee: I looked at your blog, and I love your “certificate of pedigree” outfit….it’s like mod vintage, with a cute and quirky twist! Love it! Very inspirational….
(sorry, kd, maybe i shouldn’t have posted this cuz its not relevant, but i had to comment…i just love fashion so much! :D i understand if you have to remove the post.)

Yay! I’m very happy that you don’t mind! I really like looking at some of the other who post on here..unfortunately, I don’t have my own blogging site, so I can’t show them a piece of me…but when I have time, I’ll establish one….
Anyway, thank you…I feel like its the truth…there are some elements of fashion that stay the same, but the people who can change and be a couple of steps ahead of the trends are the most iconic, in my opinion. In example, Blake Lively, an American actress, is what many consider a “trendsetter”. It also helps that she’s tall and has that model-like physique that enables her to pull of physically anything. But she also has the confidence to do so, and I think that confidence is what makes even people who aren’t model-like have the ability to pull of unique ensembles.

Honestly, I agree. No offense to anyone, but I absolutely HATE HATE HATE seeing people who smoke just cuz they think it makes them look cool/tough. I think its a very, VERY dumb reason to smoke. Cuz no one looks tough lying in the hospital getting chemotheraphy for cancer… Reality of it all just sucks, no?
