About the PhotographerInspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Love IT! Its weird, I just saw her on another site(the one you know I really like Kjeld), and I have to say your shots are just as amazing, if not better. One thing I seriously appreciate about Japanese streets is all of the detail shots. I feel like I can see gather more of what her style/inspiration is about..And there were things such as the Disney button that I couldn’t even make out on the other site. Amazing!!

In response to the shoes. I think some of the Spank! Shop staff were the first to start this trend again, as well as the store “Nadia” who started selling them again fairly recently. I haven’t researched it, but I think they may be kind of hard to find. Are they actually custom made somehow? Or did converse release them at some point? I remember Susie Bubble posted an article awhile back about one of the last guys in New York (I think, or maybe London) that still did custom work on this with shoes. I’d google platform converse or susie bubble custom made shoes/New York…Something like that. Good luck! Its hard getting new/repeat styles outside of Japan sometimes, because they’re truly trend setters!

I love her playful style mixed with the good ole 80’s. they play very well off each other. I also love this style because her clothes and accessories are those of which you’d probably find thrifting, which I love doing! Her items are so unique and one of a kind, that’s why I love thrifting. Love the blog, keep up the great work! ~
