Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Gah!! So much lace, I love it! That clip is so cool, it sticks out like a sore thumb, but I’m okay with that. What does her button say?

Shes really cool. I’ve seen some kids wearing big clips like this, but I think the others were crocheted! I love this one because it compliments the blue acid wash.

@petitesam: It says 逃げちゃダメだ (nigecha dame da), which means Do not run away, Don’t escape, Don’t evade, or It is useless to escape. There are so many interpretations possible that it is really in the eye of the beholder.

Mai shot Ali with the same nigecha dame da button last year.

I love her tote bag! I love tote bags in general and I think they always look very stylish. Her knit scarf is very cute too and the clip adds a funny twist ^^

Oh! That bag! I’ve seen it before! It was on someone, and i accidentally called it “Keisuke Panda” instead of Keisuke Kanda! Oh, the memories <3
Anyway, I like her style! I love the denim with the pureness of the white lace, its an amazing contrast! I also really like the clip on her scarf! I’ve been seeing that trend a lot, but its my first time seeing a clip that is plastic; normally the ones i see are wool. It really makes me want to get a clip like that and put it on a scarf, jacket, etc.

@Etsune: I remember that. Great slip of the tongue.
