Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Maria: Yes, a bit too much, really. I was wondering if I should have left out her bag, but it is such an integral part of Raichi’s look and fits in so well that I decided to include it.

I really love her headband. In Italy it would be considered freaky, but it’s too cute.

@Mel: Those are actually glued on. It is called decoden, from decoration and the Japanese for “phone” (denwa). You can purchase the individual pieces and do it yourself, or have a company do it for you.
