Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Appreciate, but only see like two things I would wear. Pretty much the whole line looks VERY unforgiving for bottom-heavy women. But the draping is inspiring. I heart the jewelry. And I LOVE the silvery one-shoulder dress.

@ebz: Glad you like it—Yukiko Hanai is very classic design and we only cover that (sparsely) during the Japan Fashion Week.
@Leah B.: I guess so. Not too many bottom-heavy women in Japan (yet), so I hadn’t considered that…

Oh, I still enjoy them. Just vicariously. Hope these women know they are BLESSED — even at my most fit and slim, I have always been unmistakably spoon-shaped.

@Leah B.: We all struggle with something, don’t we. ^^ Many Japanese women complain about not having enough curves. I think preciously few see themselves as blessed…

Beautiful collection! I accidently clicked this, but it’s gorgeous! I love the range she has in here! I see color palettes fitting for all seasons!
