About the PhotographerInspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

An amazing outfit; looks very simple but his accessories really pull you in!
Those brooches are wonderful! I would have to attach invisible thread to them so that as I was casually talking to someone, I could make them just start moving.

Sweet! I love the contrast of the black hat with his blonde hair! I also LOVE the ring and the bracelet. They are absolutely GORGEOUS. And also, I like his skeleton brooches. Personally, I think it’s funny because today, (Monday, November 1st, 11:43 pm) is El dia de los muertos. Not really celebrated much here in America except I guess by the Spanish community. I only know it’s El dia de los muertos because we watched a video today in Spanish 3 on it. hahahah.

Simple with eyecatching details, love it n_n
The square necklace caught my attention, at first glance I thought it was part of his shirt.

I think the close up of the hands is really beautiful…it’s the texture of the (cooler darker) blue fabric against the smooth(warmer lighter)skin of the wrist. I kind of saw the jewellery after this!

those skeleton brooches and the hair pin used as a brooch are sooo awesome. I love the skeletons in particular. For the record, November 1st is also All Saints Day & Nov. 2 is All Souls Day also! I find religious celebrations fascinating, particularly those of the Catholic church. (I’m not Catholic either, btw)

Wow. AMAZING overall look. This kind of fashion is exciting for me. What was he like to shoot? What was his personality like?
I really like the random, but super creative and artistic attachments many of the stores in Japan are selling to put on clothes. Even some of the vintage shops take “unwanted” items, but they recreate them (or remake as the Japanese say), into something totally different. Very ahead of American D.I.Y. in my opinion. Its more raw too, I think.

@Kjeld: Agreed. And I guess I taught you something for the day too =)
I love the brooches because of the irony it had for that day haha.

@Kjeld: Really? That’s so funny that you guys are sort of “in” each other’s territory. What does he do with the picture he takes. Does he have a blog too?

Please photograph this guy more. Somehow I NEVER saw him on your “turf” (haha, I know exactly where you’re talking about). The few times I see this guy though, his style is extremely avant-garde.

Now that I think about it, his name reminds me of Lovely Complex manga, that manga has some cool outfits too, specially the character named Koizumi :D
