Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

So serious _ Love the colour of the cardigan, esp with the big bow. The oversized look makes her look tiny, but I’m sure she is wearing ‘normal’ clothing as well. Not to mention, I love orange and black, even when it’s NOT Halloween! :D

A shot for the season ;)
She is really pretty :3
She won’t tell you the truth behind that scarf, but some of us already know it wasn’t a scarf when she got it :P jk

What a cutie! I really like this. It seems really in the Halloween spirit (because for me, it is Halloween today) but at the same time, the creme scarf and red beret tone it down and make it seem autumn-ish as opposed to just a Halloween thing.

@petitesam: I think she may look tiny, because she is…
@Maria: You think so?
@Etsune: Ah, yes, pumpkin color. I hadn’t noticed that.

Ohhh I love the colors. It is very halloweenish. Do they celebrate halloween over in Japan? Do they trick or treat?
Btw, Her phone looks like it could take good photos with that camera… I want one. joj

@Dustheap: The cameras on Japanese phones are usually pretty high-quality. Good for movies, too.

Halloween is getting increasingly popular. But mostly for dressing up at parties and parades, no tricking and treating (yet). I uploaded a video clip of a Halloween Parade in Harajuku on the JS facebook page. Go have a look!

And if you haven’t “liked” the page yet, make sure to do so at the same time.

I like the colors too, as well as the crochet scarf tied in a bow. Very very cute.

@Kjeld: It’s a good thing that we have all these creative, observant people around to point out things that others don’t notice. Sometimes people will say things like, “oh, so-and-so’s ring is AWESOME”, and I wouldn’t have noticed the ring without it =P

@Etsune: I shoot these images, but I admit that it is not rare that somebody draws my attention to something I missed. One of the reasons that I love these comments.

The scarf has made me look at my small collection of old household linens in a completely new light. The colour combinations are really lovely.

@CodgerBags: I guess that everything can be fashion!

@KD: What CodgerBags said is what I meant about that scarf not being a real scarf :D and of course everything can be fashion if you use it well ;)

Nov 3, 2010 (4307 days ago)

@Maria: Yes, I was kind of surprised. As you both don’t recognize it as a scarf, I guess that there are no such scarves where you live?
