Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

This is so different from the previous pictures with Kana, not only the style (minus the same purse), but in the energy she has in the pictures. I suppose her outfit has more room for movement than before, as well. And the COLOURS! :D Love the coonskin hat, it caps the whimsy aspect perfectly.

@petitesam: Kana and I actually became friends after I photographed her last time, so I think you can notice that, too. We both feel more relaxed with each other. The previous time we were complete strangers to each other, as is the case with everybody I photograph of course.

The first shot is so cute! She is rocking that hat and those shoes! Did she change occupations?

@Rei: No she didn’t. I made a mistake and fixed it.

A great look altogether. The colours are what we have in Europe now. Greys and blues, with a ‘touch’ of fur somewhere. She knows how to dress, which is not as usual as it may seem. I like the touch of the ‘sporran’, they would be a good idea for girls to keep their phones in a handy place. Good shots of Kana.

She’s fabulous! Certainly another girl to add to my favourites collection! The hat is brilliant and looks perfect with the wig! I was actually going to comment on how her hair looked in good condition but then I realised. Everything is great, but what really stands out for me is the stole and the socks! They really are in your face. Everything is right.

@akiko & Mel: I love Kana’s sense of fashion and style. She really has a unique eye and manages to put things together—and make them look whole!—from very disparate sources.

That’s just what I mean. She is one of those unique girls that could wear her grandfather’s jacket and make it look hip.

@akiko: Absolutely. I totally agree with your observation!

Perfect fall look! Agreed with Dustheap, everything goes. Heard it’s still a little hot over there though, must have been kinda toasty for her.
