Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

All black, but a pretty green outlook, eh? I adore the deconstructed top, it’s very interesting and quite beautiful, could stare at it for days. I love that all of her garments are used or reworked, makes it all the much more lovely.

I love the frilly sort of destroyed part of the top. And also, when she smiles, she reminds me of my friend Yuki =)

@Etsune: Your friend Yuki has a beautiful smile! ^ _ –

i love that headband, it’s edgy yet it blends together beautifully with the rest of her outfit, which is also awesome.

@code_name_kohaku: It is actually an old belt that Hitomi decided to wrap around her head. Ideas like that make you take a second look at every single thing in your wardrobe.

Rei Kawakubo would be very wise to hire this young lady. Immediately. I love how it’s hard to tell where each garment begins or ends. Yay for outfits that combine hand-made and high-end – we need more of this.

Oh, and it’s amazing to walk into the FIT library (same building as the museum) and see your photos flashing on the screens as Valerie Steele talks about Japanese fashion. Makes me smile every time. :)

@kagitsune: I hope Rei Kawakubo, or another great designer, does.

Cool that you are able to see my photos at the FIT library. I would love to see the exhibition myself.

She’s very pretty, looks like she could be a model or actress. Even though the whole outfit is dark, it is very chic. Ruffley part of dress, military like boots, and blue cardigan are great.

I love this look, and her top is amazing! I want one in army green. . .all the black is too much for me, but for her, PERFECT!

i love the way the headband matches her hair colour perfectly.
