Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Kazuya reminds me of the side-kick friend from the K-Drama “My Girl”, very cute.
He looks like if he gave you a full smile you’d see little sparkles coming from it…
It’s nice to see good (old-fashion) jellies too!

Here in my country if you wear those shoes you are all the bad things you can imagine, very far from cool or fashionable e.e
I like the shoes when he is wearing them.
Really joyful and hippie, great style :)

Really interesting! Never seen anything quite like this, and that’s a shock. I actually like the idea of a really really long t-shirt/top over rolled up jeans for guys. So cool.

I might be talking abt the elephant in the room but THAT HAIR CLOTH! Jadore! As for the rest, it’s so quirky it makes me want to giggle because it’s super fresh, and unique.

@Maria: No kidding? What country is that?

@Lactose Intoler-Art: Wow, if I can find fashion styles that can shock you, I feel I have really accomplished something!

@Lia: I forgot to ask if Kazuya knows what it says.

I ADORE HIS CAP THING. OMG LEGEND. & Yah the shoes would not be considered fashionable in my country either, but he just looks cool full stop.

Kazuya’s long t-shirt is unique and cool.

I love the gender blurring that seems to be so common in Japan. It’s very exhilarating to see a man in light colours and a floral pattern ^^

I agree that his cap is the shit— but his necklace is especially intriguing. I wonder if he made it himself?

@petitesam: but his necklace is especially intriguing. I wonder if he made it himself? — I usually ask these things. I completely forgot—must have been my off day…

This outfit is really feminine to me. But I LOVE his hat! That’s such a cute saying! Hahahah!!
And he’s got a fabulous bone structure. He’s a pretty handsome guy =)

@Kjeld..Haha! That’s funny that you said that, but of course I didn’t mean like a “disturbed” or “freaked out” type of shocked. Haha..don’t worry!

@Lactose Intoler-Art: No worries here either; I knew what you meant. ^ _ ^

@KD: till now I read the comments . I was talking about Nicaragua, I said that because those shoes in here are cost like dollar cents so buying cheap shoes doesn’t make you look fashionable in here, plus in here most of the people who wear them are housekeepers and domestic workers…

@Maria: Do those shoes look like Kazuya’s or do look cheaper less “fashionable” (I am not sure if that word can be used in your case) ? Incidentally, Kazuya paid about 18 dollars for them. Which is very cheap for shoes here, but but must sound ridiculous to people in Nicaragua…

I like them…but I’m talking about the rest of persons out there in my country xD
18 dollars is not that much to me or people with my economic situation, but there is a lot of people who can’t afford that much money :/ google Nicaragua, is the second poorest nation in the Americas… I think this wasn’t the point about what we were talking about xD

@Maria: Always curious about how Japanese fashion trends and prices are experienced all over the world, and how they fit in (or not…). ^ _ ^

His look is very feminine, I think that if I saw him from a distance I would have guessed he was a girl ^^ But he totally pulls it off, maybe because he has a rather masculine face ;D
Btw Kjeld, do you see a lot of guys like Kazuya in the street? Or is it more a rare sight? Just curious.
