Q Pot
Trinkets that look so realistically like desserts you may want to take them off after long bouts of fasting or sleeping at night, lest you decide for a midnight snack…

Right now I am working on my next column for The Japan Times newspaper, and I am doing a short story on the brand Qpot. As the paper doesn’t afford me much space and I found the little treats-as-jewelry to be delightful, I am posting a little preview and photos here.

Qpot makes jewelry to resemble various desserts and sweets and is headed by designer Wakamatsu Tadaaki (yes, a boy!)

It’s not exactly “fine” jewelry, although it is sold at department stores like Takashimaya as well as at the Harajuku main boutique.

These iPod cord reels are brilliant! Yummy.
On a sweetly related note, French Macaron and Bakery Laduree is finally setting up shop in Tokyo in Ginza, come July 21st (this is the company which headed all of those pretty pastries in the movie Marie Antoinette). The OLs are sure to love em, and thanks to the new store and Qpot plasticifying them for all eternity, the Macaron may become an official national dessert.

This is so incredibly cute. It is exactly what I love about Japanese fashion, so playful!
