Trembled Blossoms
What do Prada, actress Minami and Laforet Shopping mall in Harajuku have in common? The most original dress ever seen in a sleepy Aoyama town, that’s what…

Prada threw a party for their animation for the new collection titled Trembled Blossoms this week. It follows the huge reception for Miuccia Prada’s stint as costume designer for the anime movie Appleseed: Ex Machina. This new animated short is worth a look for anyone who is a fan of beautiful and interesting animation and its fusion with fashion.
As I walked into the party, I was introduced to an actress by the name of Minami who was wearing the most beautiful, interesting dress (see photo left).
She said it was designed by über-stylist Kyoko Fushimi, a remake of a Yohji Yamamoto top and Comme des Garçons bottom. Different fabrics were patchworked all around it and wire in the back gave the skirt an anti-gravitational flip.
I went out on a trembling limb and wore a dress with a graphic image of morphed intestines and organs decorated with Swarovski crystals (see photo right). No one was the wiser!
Fushimi Kyoko is famous for her over-the-top advertisements for the Laforet shopping mall in Harajuku working with “Hanpanda” creator and art director Nagi Noda (see photo below). She is also known for her now-defunct avant-garde magazine Composite. She often guest judges at the Vantan Design School awards shows.

I happened to run into Ms. Fushimi the other day and when I asked her what her new project was, she said “college”. Apparently she never got to go to university and is now getting her degree in oil painting! Once a creator, always a creator.
