Have you ever wanted to buy something from a Japanese site only to get lost in the Japanese, or to discover that they don’t ship overseas? It is a very common problem, and over the years several companies have been launched to help people living outside Japan to make purchases from Japanese online shops.
One of these companies is Tokyo based White Rabbit Japan, founded and run by Max Hodges and Tomoko Okazaki. You may have run into Max on the net as he is an awesome photographer and his work is found in many places. I’m actually a great fan of his work.
As you have certainly noticed, White Rabbit has started to advertise with us from today. And we are very happy about that, because I believe they offer a great service. They can even purchase Buy Now items for you on Yahoo! Auctions Japan.
This is how it works:
1. You find an item you would like to buy
2. Using a special entry form (see below) you tell the White Rabbit team about the item
3. They send a quote, which includes the product price, their service fee, and a checkout link where you can pay
4. You pay and they purchase and ship the item for you
The service is incredibly simple to use, and the online form very simple and straightforward:
White Rabbit‘s service fees are simple, too. They add 15% to the product price, or a USD 15 minimum. The product price is defined as the total cost to purchase the product plus the cost of delivery to the White Rabbit address. Their USD 15 minimum fee applies separately to each individual store you order from.
Shipping rates from Japan to your address are then added. They don’t mark-up the shipping rates, so you pay actual cost.
White Rabbit accepts payment by VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover as well as PayPal, wire transfer (EFT), and money order, so payment is as simple as the service itself. No problem if you don’t have a credit card!
Give them a Try!
Please try them out and let me know how it went. If you run into any problems, which I do not foresee (just check their gushing testimonials), don’t hesitate to let me know. I’ll check with Max right away.
