During three hot September days, rooms was once again held at Tokyo’s Yoyogi Stadium, right between the two mecca’s of Tokyo fashion, the Harajuku-Aoyama area and Shibuya. Exhibitors showed their items for the 2012 season. Some of them were brand new to the fashion business, one of our favorites didn’t even have prices set yet.
See our first review here. Here are more items and brands from Japan that we especially liked:
Cli’O Mariage
Cli’O Mariage handles beautiful wedding gowns by designers from all over the world, including Japanese ones like suzuki takayuki, KAMISHIMA CHINAMI and fur fur. Very different from the ones we have traditionally seen at weddings in Japan.
Triple Yarn
Triple Yarn (pronounce the “i” as in “like”) introduced a nice series of woven shoes.
HAVERSACK
HAVERSACK showed a modern twist on the preppy look.
NOZOMI ISHIGURO tambourine
NOZOMI ISHIGURO introduced his new tambourine line at rooms. Very colorful and playful. At JS, we love NOZOMI ISHIGURO and this new line is no exception to our feelings.
Verybrain
Osaka based Verybrain introduced a line of street fashion that matches perfectly with what we often shoot on the street. Unfortunately, they don’t have a web site yet, but for those of you interested in their designs, you can contact them at verybrain@true.ocn.ne.jp.
Verybrain owner/designer Kazuhiro Suzuki
givemebackmydaughter
givemebackmydaughter is a line produced by graphic design company SwimmyDesignLab Inc. T-shirts with strong graphic designs are sold in carton boxes. Very simple, but the playfulness really appealed to us.
mizuiro-ind.
mizuiro-ind. is designed by Minako Kawahara and produced by Mother’s Industry Co. Ltd. This is another Osaka based company. Osaka was surprisingly well represented at rooms; perhaps a sign of how tough times is for fashion business in this city. mizuiro-ind. features a very natural look that feels very authentic and real.
I forgot to tell Anzu I was about to start shooting…
