Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Those shoes look like a rip off of converse. Haha.
He’s really cute, though. Are there lots of men his age that dress up in street fashion? :0

@nannaho: My Converse sneakers also looks this; totally worn out, but I love them!

@Yah Rah & Raza: Aren’t these colors, great? That’s what first got my attention. Thanks for the kudos, Raza. Glad that JAPANESE STREETS can inspire you!

@Dustheap: Ryu is a hairstylist; Japanese hairstylists and many creative people in Japan usually dress really well.

If I see him I´m really looking foreward to visit Osaka this summer. ;-)
People from Berlin really could learn something about fashion in Japan.

May 25, 2010 (4466 days ago)

@tabisaki: I thought that Berlin had some edgy fashion, too.

nice guy

@Kjeld Duits: Jep, this is right. “Some edgy fashion.” But mostly nothing in comparison with Japan. For the main part german people-especially man don´t wear many colours I think.
Which will mean: I miss colours in Germany. ;-)

@tabisaki: In my mind’s eye European fashion is pretty dark, I also seem to remember that from my many visits to Germany. But haven’t been back to Germany for a long time now, so I have no idea what the current state of fashion is there.

Yeah, Osaka’s finally getting some love! :D Looks like you caught some great ones, Kjeld!
I love how Mr. Ryu managed Red/Green without looking Christmas-y at all. :3

@kagitsune: Thanks. Glad you like the shots. Good point about looking Christmas-y. I didn’t think of that!

We’ve been missing the japanese creativity in european streets too! this is why we established a european online store that features over fifteen japanese brands, both established ones like tsumori chisato as well as nice little labels and craftsmen.
help european fashion learn by spreading the word, and check it out yourself+
