Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Misato, it is often categorized under Neo-Japonism.

thank you! I’m reasearching the trend :)

You’re welcome, Misato. Neo-Japonism is all-encompassing, which makes it a bit difficult to study well. It includes everything from the kimono-inspired loose-fitting designs by Issey Miyake to the popularity of manga in the US. It is not restricted to fashion, and it crosses both national and conceptional borders.

Thank you, redhead. After I heard my voice on this clip I thought I needed to sound more forceful, like I do for news reports. Your comment made me realize this is fine. I can just be myself. ( ^ _ -)

She’s such a cutie! I like the way she combines a blond wig with a traditional kimono. She’s really good at making the kimono look casual, and interesting.
