Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Nika: Amazingly, Honda-san made it herself.

Honda-san made that dress?? That’s incredible! She is very talented. I assumed it was bought from an upscale store that makes dresses in quality material. Lolita perhaps? This dress is very beautiful, and I think her hair brings out this lovely style even more. ^^ I also think the necklace looks just right; the perfect length and a nice design against her outfit.

@Marshay: Awesome, eh! I also assumed it came from a well-established brand. Some very creative people study at Bunka. Unfortunately, many of them do not enter the fashion industry, nor even a creative job, after graduation… I hope Honda-san does!

That dress is really lovely, if only I had a fraction of her ability.
That’s sad if they don’t use their talents in the creative industry! What do they usually end up working as?

@Jied: I guess some people like making things, but they discover that it is their hobby and not their calling. The fashion industry is relatively small and very competitive, and there really isn't as much opportunity as there are people graduating from fashion schools. I have heard of quite a few people ending up working in an office, or as shop assistants.
