Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Look up South East Punk that’s punk, this stuff they call punk isn’t punk… It’s hipster! All of that stuff came from WHERE, a corporation? Crosses? ehhh. Cute though.

@Vex: It took me a long time to come to grips with this, actually. But eventually I decided to follow Japanese categorization, albeit with English words. I also believe it is important to listen to what people themselves consider their style. Very often this will differ from how people in other countries perceive those styles. But that’s kind of the point of JAPANESE STREETS, to show what Japanese people do with fashion, and their naming customs are an important part of that. Thanks for the support!
