Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

My favorite part is definitely the shoes!

@Daniel & Pin: I love how well the hairstyle, hat, glasses, print and shoes work together.

Oh my gosh…I have that same kimono outer piece she is wearing! Haha.

But wow…! She is AMAZING, my goodness! I love the way she combined everything into her own VERY personal style. Very unique!

Cocoon is one of the few Bjork songs I like :D
Thanks for adding Shibuya Frontier’s link, those boots are like out from an anime or movie, love’em!
Let me see if I get it. She is wearing a floral dress, a ZARA’s coat and a yukata… is that right? ._.

@Maria: It looks like you are right. I just shot like in a frenzy (over 120 people in just three days) and left the collection of the data to an assistant, but looking at it more carefully now, it seems there is indeed a yukata. I will ask Hideko to clarify.

Oops! Sorry, yukata! I have the same one and I purchased it at the corner in Harajuku next to LaForet. They set up pretty often and sell old Japanese clothing. I’m sure it probably came from another shop though..I just felt like it was really random that I happened to have the same one! I love these shots from the “shooting frenzy” haha.

@Lactose Intoler-Art: That outlet is run by Chicago. They also have a pretty good in-store selection of kimono and yukata. Amazing that you have the same one.

@Maria: It is indeed a yukata, Hideko just told me. She doesn’t remember where she got it, but she paid JPY 3,000.
