Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

He looks mysterious! 探偵ににています… ^^

@Maria: Yes, he looks a little like Kosuke Kindaichi (金田一 耕助).

@KD: Wow! I thought it was just me, but they do look alike. By the way, I like that detective’s last name, well, the kanjis hehe ^^

He looks a little bit like a Japanese version of the moomin character Snuffkin/Nuuskamuikkunen.

@nora: You think so?

Yes, because of his mysterious aura, the hat, the simple style (snuffkin doesn`t like a ‘too much’ kind of life) and the sillhouette. I think, the geta and that he wears a kimono instead of a coat makes him the ‘Japanese’ snuffkin, obviously.

WOW! Very interesting outfit, kinda reminds me of Comme des Garçons, mixed with old world Japanese style.

Wuohh he really looks like Kosuke Kindaichi. Well, at least in that picture.
Little question, is it hard to walk with getas?

Aug 17, 2012 (3603 days ago)

@TANASHA: Yes, it does have a slight Comme des Garçcons feel to it, doesn’t it.
@Nyurah: Usually, geta have two teeth, so it is like walking on wooden shoes. But these ones only have one, so it is really difficult to balance them. I even had to ask Hayato to put his toes down for the photo because he moved too much.

@Kjeld: Amazing, I wonder if he practices at home?^^ And here people are amazed when they see girls walking in high heels…

@Nyurah: I think Hayato told me he had just recently bought these. And it didn’t look like he had had a lot of practice yet… ^_-
