Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

It’s kind of a geometric style, and also very Japanese! I like it! ^^

@Maria: Yes, a great combination of traditional and modern Japanese design. The T-shirt was created by a group of Bunka Fashion College students.

@non sibi: “Is it peace in arabic writing?” — According to the dictionary, سلام is peace, salaam. That looks quite different from the writing above. I’d love to know what’s written on the shirt…

Same here :) I hope someone who understands arabic writing read our note and write a response here. Salam (Malay = greetings)

In arabic I believe it says “Tahari” which is a fashion line by Elle Tahari.

Her hair looks so healthy and beautiful. I like the whole look. I like that its very graphic. It looks comfy and chic at the same time. I like such kind of loose pants with a cool pattern.

@selma: That finally makes sense. The word “challenge” is greatly loved in Japan. Thank you.

@Nyurah: Yes, I think that’s quite difficult to accomplish and it inspires me every time I encounter it. ^_-
