Kjeld Duits About the Photographer

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

Yay, a cool layering look with the skirt over the pants. And I like the jacket very much. All in all, a cute look. <3

The blue pants showing underneath are cool!
Does anybody know what’s written on the mask? Love to see different interesting masks by the way ^^

@Nyurah: “Does anybody know what’s written on the mask?” — It says RED CROSS (赤十字, sekijuji)

@angelina: “why a mask on the mouth??” — There are several reasons to wear masks. Most people wear them because they have a cold and don’t want to spread it to other people. Japanese usually are very considerate of the needs of others. Some people wear them because they have a pollen allergy. And recently an increasing number of people wear them as a fashion statement. That’s why more and more masks feature some kind of design.

@Kjeld: Thanks a lot! I really like those masks, but unfortunatly I can’t read Japanese. Well, I can’t really understand it either…
But I’m probably soon going to start taking classes, and I’m absolutely looking forward to it!!!!
:D
